Our first impression was a lovely flat - all warm, clean, welcoming, shiny and just as you would want it. It was well equipped and we could do all the cooking we wanted and we were particularly pleased with the guitar which got quite a lot of use! The local shop in the village had lots of stuff and the Tesco in Poprad had everything one could want.
We had a great time skiing and found a really dishy and friendly instructor for Flossie (aged 8) through the Tatra ski school. We liked Strbske Pleso because it was small, manageable resort for a family of different ability but with a single point that all the runs end up at so that meeting up if we got separated was never a problem.
Poprad is an interesting town and the old part is very pretty. We recommend Aqua City, particularly the hot outdoor pools and laser show at 9pm (get a Thermal Plus package). You can also get ice-creams for 25p from a shop on the main pedestrian area - lots of flavours to choose from!

April 08- I decided to visit the High Tatras and couldn’t get over the beauty of it all. I enjoyed looking round Poprad - some of the shops are like they were when I was a little girl. The castle and museums were good and you got the feeling that this area is emerging into the 21st century. I hope they preserve their traditions and don’t become like every other European city. I managed a few walks including one to the chata at Popradskom. The cable car up to Lomnicky Stit is worth while so long as the weather is good.
The flat was super and I enjoyed the views and watching the birds. Eating out was good - especially friendly was the restaurant above the local shop.
Honor Simpkin (Aged 81years!) Shalln’t be trying the skiing next time!
